- Mental Health America (MHA, formerly the Mental Health Association) – offers education, support, and advocacy, including national helpline 1-800-273.TALK.
- Mental Health Association of Minnesota – offers education and advocacy
- National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) – offers information, education, support and advocacy. For the MN chapter of NAMI, visit www.namimn.org
- Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) – an agency of the US Department of Health and Human services dedicated to improving the lives of people with mental illness and substance abuse. A service agency, SAMHSA focuses on education and information dissemination about substance abuse and mental health.
- National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) – a branch of the National Institute of Health charged with understanding mental illness and treatments for mental illness through research. Offers information about mental illness, including research on the brain and treatment.
- The Coalition for Community Living (CCL) — the national organization for Fairweather Lodges. The CCL collects outcome data to measure whether existing lodges uphold the principles of the Fairweather model.
