Steve decided to give Tasks Unlimited a chance at the suggestion of his vocational rehabilitation counselor after his previous attempts to hold a job didn’t work out.

He spent eight months in the JOBS Training Program where he learned basic janitorial skills like trashing, vacuuming and cleaning bathrooms. “I was a little mad at first when I didn’t do well on my performance review... but no matter what, Jenna wouldn’t let me quit.” In August, Steve was hospitalized. “I was going to quit. I told Jenna I was going to quit, but she said, ‘No, you’re not going to quit.’ I thought the training was good.” Steve graduated March 8, 2010 and went on to work at one of Tasks Unlimited Building Services award-winning contracts.

“[Tasks Unlimited] helps me stay out of trouble like sleeping all the time and eating too much. I come in here and I feel better about myself. I’ve lost ten pounds, managed my diabetes better and it’s better than going fishing sometimes.”

Steve has continued to learn and grow in his new position. “I like to learn new things every day. I’d like to be in this program for a long time.”
