Program Qualifications
Before completing an application for admission, please review our admission criteria to determine if Tasks Unlimited can meet your mental health recovery needs:
All Programs Applicants Must:
- Be at least 18 years of age;
- Meet State of Minnesota requirements for serious and persistent mental illness (schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder or major depressive disorder);
- Be reasonably stable on psychiatric medication, as prescribed by a mental health provider, and be willing to continue taking them as prescribed;
- Express a willingness to actively participate in the training program;
- Have not performed self-abusive or suicidal acts in the past 30 days;
- Not pose a risk of serious harm to yourself or others;
- Be able to obtain security clearance as required from the worksite;
- Have a vocational counselor from Rehabilitation Services who is willing to fund training;
- Have, or be eligible for, medical assistance;
- Be physically prepared to participate in a full range of activities and employment with reasonable accommodation;
- Complete a successful tour of the applicable program, whenever possible;
- Applicants currently abusing alcohol or drugs, or who have a history of abusing alcohol or drugs, must be assessed as being in the active treatment stage, or relapse prevention stage, of recovery to be considered for admission. Applicants may be required to meet conditions before admission;
- Applicants with criminal history will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and an admission decision will be made based on the established “Admissions Committee Procedures Related to Referrals with Criminal History, including assessment of the criminal behavior being related to mental illness.
Persons interested in the JOB$ Training Program (supported employment program) only, must also:
- Have a stable living situation of at least three months duration which supports involvement in the training program. Any move during training must have the support and involvement of the training team.
Persons interested in the Lodge Training Program, Interlachen Training Lodge or Oakwood Residence must also:
- Express a willingness to abide by the house rules;
- Not be in need of health care beyond that which can be provided with program resources;
- Be in need of services deemed to be medically necessary, as defined by MN Statutes;
- People who have the presence of a felony conviction or pending charges at a felony level will be considered for the applicable training program when applying for housing.
